This is a combination of sandalwood, agarwood, and various japanese spices. Together, these form a sweet, almost baking-cookie-like scent. This is very reminiscent of higher end agarwood from companies like Baiedo and Shoyeido, but so much more affordable. This is definitely one you want to heat on low (I've found 150 or a bit lower to work the best). This is the sweetest incense powder I've ever had the pleasure to burn. It works very well using the Koh method, but the heater truly brings out it's gorgeous scent. One for agarwood lovers, or just lovers of profoundly beautiful incense. The Japanese ingredients are very noticeably different than their US counterparts. The patchouli and borneo camphor add something special to this, and gives it a slightly spicy scent. I think there is a little cinnamon in this as well. At least, it smells like it to me. If there isn't, Katlyn did an amazing job making this smell like agar-cinnamon with nice, cool camphor and patchouli additions.
Kamiwaza truly brings peace and calms the mind. It's an incense you want to relax to. It also lasts a very long time, so the 6 gram jar will last you awhile. Still, don't let that stop you from hoarding this incense. I've also purchased several jars of this powder, and it's well worth it. If you have a heater, it burns best on a small-sized, flat foil cup (also sold by Mermade). When burning on charcoal, the Koh method is excellent, as is putting something between the charcoal and the incense, like Mermade's charcoal tripod. On the heater, this lasts for hours and hours. It's really hard to tell when the scent fades, but the sandal and agar seem to last even while the patchouli and camphor have faded. A beautiful incense!
At the moment, Mermade is out of this powder, but it seems to be a staple of theirs and is usually always in stock. Just check out Mermade's Premium Incense Blends occasionally, and it will likely pop up soon. Kamiwaza is a masterpiece of incense art and it usually runs around $18 or so. If it doesn't get restocked, ScentuALIty is similar, but distinctively different, so I'll post a review for that separate.
Loving incense for 20 years now. Always willing to try new things and send samples of what I do like.
